3 Streaming liver
This is my fourth presentation which summarizes the current knowledge of cell proliferation kinetics. Please start with the first:
1. Streaming Epidermis, a prototype of stratified epithelia.
Then continue with presentations 2 and 3
The epithelial proliferative unit (EPU) is the atom of epithelia. It is the motor of streaming tissues described in my previous presentations.
Here I show that the liver is also composed of EPUs and streams
In the embryo liver starts as a crypt which elongates
to become an excretory duct. Then it turns into an
exocrine gland with acini. Finally acini merge into hepatic lobules (units)
Hepatocytes are glued together with junctions and stream as a whole.
They are accompanied by littoral cells and sinusoids. All stream as a whole
